Privacy Cell Phone Gift Ideas: Incognito Tech on eBay for deGoogled Cell Phones

Ezekiel Diet Note:  Did you ever wish you had a local security cell phone tech guy you can just drop in on when you need something?  Well keep wishing because most local cell phone store techs are asleep to security phone issues. You ask about a deGoogled OS cell phone and they ask you why. Followed by, if you’re that paranoid just put your phone in airplane mode.

Putting a cell phone in airplane mode shuts down (in theory) one of three computers operating inside your cell phone. You control one computer (your phone). Your carrier controls two other limited purpose computers operating on your SIM card (inside your phone). These two computers will use any internet connection and bypass your VPN connection, if you use one, to report home; adding to the mosaic tapestry that is your life for sale to anyone who wants it. Maybe this is why there’s more competition selling really cheap ($10 month) cell phone plans. Because you’re the product. This carrier communication, via the SIM card, that’s encrypted that you can’t see, and they don’t want to talk about, is called split tunneling. New cars after 2020 do this as well. Many new appliances do the same. See: No SIM? No Problem.

I found a security cell phone tech guy on eBay who actually responds quickly and will walk you through issues. It’s Incognito Tech. He has a perfect 100% Customer Satisfaction Score since 2018 on 1,200 sales. I immediately recognized this guy must bend over backwards to keep his customers happy.

I bought a new deGoogled Pixel 8a with the Calyx Operating System from Incognito Tech. The only thing missing on the Pixel 8a, and most new phones today, is an earphone jack.  I listen to a lot of podcasts. While traveling in a car with road background noise most podcasts don’t have enough volume to hear without earphones.  I get it, they want you to buy expensive earbuds for your expensive cell phone. But I’m not crazy about microwaving my head with wireless earbuds; but, I discovered a work-around. There’s an earphone plug adapter that plugs right into the power supply jack that allows you to plug in earphones.

Another service he offers is mail in Google Pixel DeGoogling Service. From $99 to $149 per phone, you mail him an unlocked Google Pixel (3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8) and he’ll flash whichever OS you prefer and mail the phone back to you. That’s a great service. The key word here is an “unlocked” Pixel cell phone.

But the real issue to me is having access to a phone tech when I need one. I’ve been with Verizon for decades, but I’ve recently been pushed over the edge by them in terrible customer service. On two different occasions I sat on hold and heard the same song 20 times an hour for over 8 hours; and still never got anyone on the phone. Sometimes when God slams a door shut, and it won’t reopen; something is going on and it’s time to move on. As a result I no longer trust Verizon and had plenty of time while on hold to determine that cell phone rates have dropped dramatically in the last few years. And Verizon now costs about 5 times what I can get the same service from several other vendors who use the Verizon, ATT and T Mobile networks.
