Gulf Breeze doctor creates free telemedicine website during COVID-19 pandemic

A Gulf Breeze doctor is virtually treating hundreds of COVID-19 patients for free.

It all started with MyFreeDoctor.com.

Dr. Ben Marble created the telemedicine website at the start of the pandemic to help patients across the country.

“We’re saving lives and I get messages from patients every day that tell us we saved their life, their brother’s life, their dad’s life,” Marble said. “That’s our goal, to save as many people as we can.”

What started out as one doctor treating a few patients, has now turned into 13 doctors treating hundreds.

And just like the website’s name — it truly is free.

Patients don’t have to pay a cent, unless they want to.

“At the very end, we ask for a donation,” Marble said. “This month we have a 97% donation rate. The patients want to donate because they’re so grateful for what we’re doing.”

Marble tells Channel 3, the average donation is $65.00.

We checked and this is twice the amount most doctors are charging for virtual consults.

Marble believes his website could even be a replacement for Obamacare.

“My Free Doctor is the real affordable care because free is affordable,” Marble said. “It works. It gets the medicine to the people. It’s saving lives and we’re doing it for free.”

Marble is working to present this plan to the White House. He also says he’s been asked to send a proposal to President Trump to allow doctors to keep practicing telemedicine across state lines after the pandemic.

The White House gave doctors the green light to do so at the start of the health crisis, now Marble wants there to be a national telemedicine license for physicians.
